OUR DIRECTOR

 MEET OUR DIRECTOR

I have been directing choirs for more than 30 years, starting in my teens by helping out with younger pupils. In 1995, I was offered a place with the Northamptonshire Youth Choir and my passion for choral singing was born. I studied flute at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama (now the Royal Scottish Conservatoire) and, whilst there, had the opportunity to sing with the National Youth Choir of Scotland. Towards the end of college, I took on my first professional roles as a choral conductor with the Dalgarno Singers and Largs Variations.

In 2012 I took my first foray into starting and directing my own community choir - this now exists as The Well Community Choir. I also began to help run the choir at the local primary school and this led to the formation of a community youth choir (now known as The Well Youth Choir) in 2015. In 2016, I launched Voice camp on behalf of SU Holidays and we now run a day event, two weekends and two week-long events each year for young people to come away to sing together. All these streams began to line up and The Voice Project Scotland was officially born in September 2017.
